It is just too bad a lot of academic organizations do not see it that
way. It is not the end of the world, though. The first thing you
will want to do is find out what the requirements for your computer are
for software and then run through the personal use test. This
will help you determine if the requirements are Linux-friendly or not.
Even if the requirements need Windows, who's to say you can't dual-boot Windows and Linux together?
