Searching For Answers: Finding the help you need.
Six steps to effective searches in Linux.

1. Find where your answers may be by searching all the forums initially.
This will help you determine the forum your answer is most likely to be in.

2. Search one forum at a time.
By limiting your searches to one forum, you can increase your chances of good hits.

3. Limit your search terms to one or two terms only.
Too many terms will "confuse" the search engine.  This is true regardless of search engine.  Use only the most relevant and most important serch terms.

4. Set the Date Range to Newer than 1 year.
Newer than 1 week is almost worthless.  This limits your results way too much.

5. Use Show a preview of post body with results checkbox to quickly filter hits.
This way you may not have to open the post to filter the results.

6. While searching, be on the lookout for additional search terms.
Try as you might, sometimes the best search terms are the ones you never think of.
