The Gigastrand Open Source Software Fund was set up to give back to the open source community.  Projects such as Freespire, The Freely Project and others will receive regular donations from Gigastrand International based on sales made in the Gigastrand Online Store and through our agents.

1% of each purchase made from our site go to the general fund.  You can also make a donation directly to the fund without purchase.

How much will each beneficiary get?
When we review the fund, we will determine how much each OSS beneficiary will get.  As a rule, we will generally try to split the fund evenly amongst beneficiaries.

What Items are directly tied to what funds?
Freespire items are tied to the Freespire fund and will contribute as such.  All others, unless specified, will go to the general fund.

What percentages are contributed on what items?
We use a sliding percentage to determine the contribution per item.  We will continually review the percentages and adjust them as needed. The goal is to maximize contributions while not giving away the farm as it were. The rule of thumb is more expensive items contribute a smaller percentage, but because they are more expensive, they will contribute more than say, a $5 Freespire CD that contributes a higher percentage.

If I live outside the US and make a purchase does it contribute as well?
Yes.

I do not have a Paypal account and don't want one, how do I contribute to the fund and not use Paypal?
When you go to checkout, there will be a link below the login that will take you to a standard Shopping Cart Checkout form.  It will not sign you up for Paypal and you can use your credit card as normal.
Paypal optional
